Taboo, tabua mn. tabui polin. ( the Maori language ) 1. Among primitive people, a prohibition placed on an object, work, word, etc; violation of this prohibition entails serious illness, death; 2. prohibited items, questions, opinions, etc; something holy, sacred, which can not be touched, inviolable; high and far, inaccessible mystery; declare something taboo, make it inaccessible, into a taboo.
